Anastasiia Sosyniuk: Inbound Marketing for Designers at the Creative Practice Marathon
I had the chance to speak as a lecturer as part of the Creative Practice Marathon — and dedicated my session to a topic rarely discussed in design circles: how designers can use inbound marketing to actually sell their work.
What the Creative Practice Marathon Is
The Creative Practice Marathon is a free series of online lectures, case studies, and masterclasses from the Creative Practice platform, a project by CASES media. It now includes more than 200 lectures, case studies, and masterclasses covering design, marketing, copywriting, freelancing, and self-development — all in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The format is practical talks from leading Ukrainian experts, art directors, and designers. Topics span interface design, copywriting, marketing, freelance work, and career growth. Every session is free to watch, and speakers — myself included — don't receive a fee. Instead, organizers ask viewers to support one of several charities: the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the "Come Back Alive" foundation, or the KOLO foundation. All recordings are available on the marathon's official page on cases.media.
What My Lecture Was About: "Inbound Marketing for Designers: How to Sell Your Work"
At the time of this recording, I was serving as CPO at MasterBundles (Boosta), and I built the entire session on real, hands-on experience promoting products and personal brands online.
The core idea of the lecture: it's not enough for a designer to simply be good at their craft — you need to know how to show your work to the right people at the right moment. That's where inbound marketing comes in — a set of internet promotion tools that pull clients toward you instead of forcing you to chase them.
The lecture structure covered:
-
Who I am — context on my background in marketing and product.
-
Inbound marketing — the basic principles of inbound marketing and why it works better than "cold" sales for creative professionals.
-
Content soup — on the oversaturation of the information space and how not to get lost in it.
-
The core of the methodology — the fundamental principles the entire inbound strategy is built on.
-
Tools — specific channels and services you can start using tomorrow.
-
"You drew a rose" — a practical example of how to present even a simple piece of work so it grabs attention and sells.
-
Distribute your work aggressively — why creating great work isn't enough; it needs to be actively and consistently distributed.
-
About what? — how to figure out content topics that genuinely resonate with your audience.
-
Strategy and tactics — the difference between long-term planning and day-to-day actions.
-
Pros and cons — an honest look at the approach's limitations, not just its upsides.
-
An example — a breakdown of a real-world case applying inbound marketing in practice.
Why This Matters for Designers and Freelancers
Ukraine's creative industry is going through a difficult period where knowing how to sell your work has become just as critical a skill as knowing how to create it. Inbound marketing gives designers and freelancers a tool that doesn't require a big budget — just consistency, an understanding of your audience, and a willingness to share your process, not only the finished result.
Thank you to the Creative Practice Marathon and CASES team for the opportunity, and to everyone who watched the lecture for their attention. If the material was useful, the best way to say thanks is to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine or one of the charities mentioned above.
